When worked for Porsche we arrived at Ferry’s home in Stuttgart…which had previously been his father’s home (so Ferry had spent much of his life there)…that first little mid-engined roadster was in the courtyard behind the house.
As most Porsche cognoscenti know, this car is now referred to as Porsche Number One.
During the days that we were filming Professor Porsche there at his home, I had the opportunity to sit in the car and have these pictures taken. Very few people today are allowed to touch it, let alone sit in it.
The entire experience was so moving for me that when I had the opportunity to purchase one of the final 993s off the assembly line (and therefore one of the last air-cooled Porsche's), I special-ordered it and matched…as closely as possible…the colors of Porsche Number One.
