All great collector cars come with a story. This car has a great one. This 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 found it’s way to the Rayco showroom back in November of 2006. It was sold the same month to a gentleman from Hawley Pennsylvania. The car had 26,565 miles on it at the time of sale. The car was driven 1,135 miles during the course of the next 10 years. One Saturday afternoon in August of 2016 we received a call from the gentleman’s sister. The owner had passed away and his sister was named the executor of his will. She explained that there was a car in his garage she needed to sell. Unfortunately, she didn’t know anything about the car including what kind of car it was. She explained that at her age she was unable to take photographs of the car to email or text to us so we could get a better understanding of what kind of car it was. We asked where the car was located. She explained where the house was located and inquired why she was calling us to buy the car as there had to be 100 car dealers between us and the car. She said that she called us because our logo was on the back of the car. With that we decided that it was worth taking the drive to see what this mystery car was. The following week we arrived at the house to find this piece of automotive and cinematic history. The car was covered in blankets, boxes and a plethora of other items. As I started to dig the car out in the August heat and humidity, it became apparent that the car hadn’t been run in a long time. We attached a battery jumper box, but the only result of that action was the radio began to play and the gauges sprung to life. We were able to reach a purchase agreement with the executor, and towed her to our shop where she began her two year (and very extensive) restoration process. The car we present to you today, is a result of that process. We started by rebuilding the original engine and went on from there. We have all the receipts from the restoration and they will be made available to the next collector. Some of the notable new parts are; Engine harness, Water pump, Radiator assembly, Engine gasket kit, Piston and liner set, AC condenser, Brake master cylinder, Brake fluid reservoir, Brake booster, Clutch master cylinder, Starter, Brake lines, Shocks, Fuel pump assembly, Door torsion bars, Fuel injection distributor, Alternator, Shift cable and a completely rebuilt motor and transmission. No expense was spared bringing this time-honored automobile back to the pristine shape she’s in now. The original drive line of this 1981 DeLorean is as new as you can get. This highly collectable piece of history is only going up in value and with the hint of a possible Back To The Future 4 movie in the works, this car is about to soar in value. Please feel free to contact us at our highly regarded Bosch authorized facility to schedule your showing of this timeless classic.
